This important overview of the lives and work of three women photographers from Delaware County adds immeasurably to our understanding of the practice of this art in the rural Catskills. In partnership with Karen Marshall with support from the Delaware County Historical Association, Diane Galusha publishes for the first time the biographies and select examples of the work of Anna Carroll, Edna Georgia Benedict, and Lena Bouton Underwood; all of whom used the camera to preserve shadows of the world around them at the dawn of the 20th century.
