Historical Background

Earlton Methodist Church celebrated its 85th anniversary March 22, 1942. In 1857, the Evangelical Lutherans organized and built the present building and continued to have services there until March 13, 1879, when the church was reorganized as a Union Church. The minister at that time came from the Medway Church. It remained a Union Church until Sept. 25, 1929, when a unanimous vote of the congregation ordered that the Union church of Earlton unite with the Methodist Episcopal Church.
